having problems getting DMA working properly on my Toshiba tecra S1,

2. And this is the output of the "hdparm -Tt " option

as you can see buffered disk read is woeful, leading to very slow I/O. have tried to activate DMA with "hdparm -d1" option
and this error message follows:
