Mandrake 8.2 and AMD k6-2 proc

A year or so ago I got Mandrake 8.2 to put on my laptop, Toshiba 2105cds with an AMD k6-2 proc@400mhz. The system would hang on install- upon research, I found that there was a prob with the proc and there was a workaround, a small script or something loaded off a floppy when installing, and it worked fine. Now, I have Googled my brains out and I cant find this script (or whatever it was) anywhere, or even any references to it. Can anyone here help me with this, or some other way to install this dist on this system? I am a total Linux noob so any help would be greatly appreciated.
