Madwifi installation issuue
 
Hi Guys,

I followed the guide on installing madwifi atheros driver for my notebook running backtrack OS.

However, when i reached the below steps, i am hit with the error indicated below what could be the problem ?

Is it the source.list link issue ?

It appears that the madwifi-source package is not in the software repository or not on the mirror that you are accessing.

Thats what i suspect also.
Do you happen to know of any repo link that has it so that i can add into my source list and try again.

You may have to get the source code from the madwifi web site.

http://sourceforge.net/projects/madwifi/

Then you will have to compile it and install it yourself.

Have you looked into using the ath9k driver?

I heard about it but where do i download it or how should i go about doing it ?

If you mean how to download the ath9k driver then it may be in your distribution's software repository.

Ya i found the package sorry was abit lost/blurr when i posted this.

sorry i am a guest and i use 'pclinuxOS' on a dell latitude d610
but it fails not only to access wireless connection but even to detect
so i request you for hlp. if possible send me the list of instructions in my
e-mail which is (kainja@live.com)

You should start your own thread. The original poster in this thread appears to have succeeded.

The reason that you should start your own thread is that it is confusing to have two discussions in one thread.

We do not send private instructions because that would not help other people.

So again, please start a new discussion to address your problem. Be sure to be clear and include details of how you are trying to use your computer, what you have done to resolve your problem, and what has not worked for you.
