MacBookPro under Ubuntu: Heat, Trackpad problems, wifi issues

My first full day with a dual-boot, OS X + Ubuntu Mac Book Pro.
  • A bit concerned that the MBPro gets warmer when booted into Linux than OS X - same activity level seems to produce more heat. Is this because Linux can't communicate with the hardware in a way that conserves energy?
  • Trackpad behavior is...insane. Lots of clicks, scrolls moves and other commands that I don't intend. Trackpad and Ubuntu appear to be squirrelly..operating according to...whatever. Is there a driver to help this which I can install?
  • Is there a way to make the MBP's wifi work?

Thank you!

Are the fans turning on and up and down according to the heat like they would under Mac OS X? If not, maybe there's an SMC controller for Ubuntu to help keep your Mac's cooling systems working.

I hear no change in fans...that's a worthwhile angle to look at..

Thank you!

You can check the temperature
Code:

$ apt-get install lm-sensors
$ sudo sensors-detect
$ sensors -f

How did you determine this? Are you using software on each operating system that keeps track of it? Or are you judging by touch?
