Looking for cheap and small linux sub-notebook

Hi all,

I'm looking for a very small linux notebook (sub-notebook) with a full size keyboard. I will run linux on it, mainly for office work (latex, open office) and internet browsing. It should have WLAN. It does not need to have the best and fastest hardware, I would much rather prefer a long battery runtime.

I currently use a Lenovo IBM ThinkPad T60p, Core 2 Duo T7600 2.33GHz and if I throttle down the CPU to 20% I can still perform all the work which I would use the sub-notebook for.

To conclude: It should be cheap, very small (but with full size keyboard) and equipped with low-end hardware tuned for long battery runtime. Around 500 USD or preferably less would be great.

Is there such a beast out there?

Thanks,
Michael

If you can wait until August, this unit from ASUS will be out; it's only $199.

More details here

Yummy! This is almost exactly what I want. The only drawback is that the battery runtime is a bit low (3 hours). Are there any alternatives?

Many thanks,
Michael

You can add an external battery. They're handy for keeping your cell phone, PDA or notebook running longer.

Notebooks with long battery life are available, but well outside your price range.
