Login Screen Problem


hi,

i am having compaq presario v3000 and having issue with its login screen

i have installed ubuntu 14.04 in this till yesterday it was very fine but today when i started it,login screen didn't appear. it works nice with the all the command line desktops but when i start with gui i just get the black screen. no login screen appears.

i have tried to reinstall display drivers,gnome-desktop and gdm as well.

Try issuing the startx command from the command line and see if you get a meaningful error message.
