Hi, Im a newbi and Im having a problem loading ubuntu 6.06 on a newly formated and portitioned hard drive. I keep getting error loading OS it will not even boot to load. The hard drive is totally new. Im using a gatway solo 3350 laptop. Help if you can

what version of ubuntu 6.06 aRE YOU using is it a 32 bit(i386) edition or a 64 bit(amd64)?? also have you configured bios to boot of of your cd rom driver/ installation media drive? and how have you burnt the image??

How far does the process get?

You insert the CD.
You reboot.
You see the POST.
Then...

Generally:
Note 6.06 will have problems with newer hardware. You are properly advised to use 7.04 (or wait for 7.10). It is usually pointless to pre-partition/format a HDD. Let the linux partition manager handle that.
