live distro question: can i save my settings for next time?

i'm running knoppix. i installed fedora core 1 earlier today and corrupted xp and had to re-install it, deleting fedora core. i'm an idiot, i've never used linux before and under-estimated it. now i'm gonna get used to it with knoppix and i was wondering if i alter my settings will it save and i'll be able to come back to knoppix with the same settings the next time i boot up?

Yeah. Isn't there a document like a README on the desktop? Either way, you save your settings to a floppy or a partition on the hard drive. I forget how to do it, but it's easy and the docs explain it. (Been awhile since I booted Knoppix - and they may have changed stuff anyway.) But, no, it definitely won't save if you don't take specific steps, because it runs in RAM.
