Linux (Slack)

Hello All,
I am thinking about buying a new laptop, and the two finalists are a Toshiba A10, or a Dell5100, the BIG question is about the video card technology that they use. The A10 uses Intel 855 chipset with 32 Mb. UMA Video (Shared?). The Dell5100 uses a ATI7500 with 32 Mb.
As soon as I get the machine, I will be blowing away (literally) WinXP, and installing Slack (8 or 9?).
Does someone has had a prevoius experience with these machines?

I don't have any experience with either of these laptops, but the Dell with the ATI gpu will perform better because it has its own memory.

In general, nVidia graphics chips have better support for Linux than ATI. If an nVidia graphics chip is one of the options on any of those laptops, I'd recommend getting that.
