Cool linux server for oracle

Ineed to install linux redhat enterprise server in this laptop and then will be used as oracle server minimuum user will be connect to the oracle db about 30 user.

so ineed the details for the metho installation and the configuration.

- Yes in theory it would be possible to set it up but the performance with 30 users would be dire
- A 1.6Ghz laptop with 256Mb (or less with what looks like a graphics card sharing ram)!!
- Harddrive space would be an important factor but you don't specify anything
- Network bandwidth would also be important, you laptop probably only has a 100BaseT card so thats going to be limiting

To be honest for testing purposes it would be fine but for production your probably better buying a proper server.

Well depending on whether you want to keep xp on the laptop

1. Defrag windows to move all data to the begining to the drive
2. Resize your ntfs partiton to give you enough room for linux (this should be possible through the utilities avaliable during the install of linux if not you can use partition magic to do it)
3. Insert the install disks and reboot
4. Follow the on screen instructions to install linux
5. Install Oracle

To be honest more detailed installation instructions should be avaliable with the RH disks or from the Redhat site and the same for Oracle.
