Linux on PSP/Bochs

A little bit of a repost, I had the wrong description/title..

I'm inlove with handhelds like the oQo and ultra small notebooks. But I had the realization yesterday that I don't need windows on a handheld when linux is on everything.

I was hoping for linux on the PSP, and I came across the site: psp-linux dot org

To quote that site...

"if we have any problems with fanboys/droolers, we will delete the mailing list from public view, and continue development privately."

Now that sounds like middleschool mentality, so I wonder if these guys are legitimate.

also the following site: linux-mips dot org

In the "Linux support" section, in refrence to to the PSP:

"There is none and there won't be any [Linux support on the PSP] despite some people's foolish claims and attempts. The hardware lacks a TLB and as such is too primitive to run a real Linux kernel. µClinux would be a potential alternative but that would mean no binary compatibility with existing Linux/MIPS."

What does that mean in regard to running linux on the PSP? And if this is a huge barrier, could we not use linux on top of software reworked and derived from the Bochs emulator, so instead of emulating a PC, its just used to emulate the portions of a PC that a psp doesn't provide?

Also...

I've found mentions of the release of a Bochs port to the PPC that has since disapeared. Its mythical now. Using that would be insanely cool. Fast Bochs on Palm lifedrive anyone? : )

I invite everyone's opinion and insights, aslong as they are not direct criticism of me.
thanks!

this link has a guide on how this guy set up an os on his psp. However, anytime you use an emulator you loose performance. The guys a linux-psp are trying to come up with a native version.

as far as the palm i don't have one so, i can't help you there.

Please try to post NEW INFORMATION. The title of my thread includes the name "Bochs" so it would be a safe assumption that I was already aware of the current port of Bochs to the PSP handheld. Also, I already understand that the linux-psp people are apparently trying to create a native port of linux on the PSP. However, I do appreciate the reply
