Linux on OLD laptap

OK, so I have an ancient IBM thinkpad w/ I think 4 or 8 megs of ram, a pcmcia CDROM drive, and 500 Megs of harddisk space. MDK, Redhat, and Slack all refuse to install, so is there another distro w/ low hdd/mem requirments? And can I still use Xfree86 w/ a smaller instalation.

Vital Info:

PC: IBM thinkpad 755CS
Harddisk Space: around 500 MB
Current OS: Dos 5 w/ Win 3.1
CDROM Drive: PCMCIA Argosy Model I

Take a look at the following website:

http://www.geocities.com/dueze/thinkpad750c.html

I haven't tried it yet on a 750c that I have due to the need for a new battery. (won't hold a charge)
