Linux on Compaq CQ10-500 N455 netbook - any issues?

Hi all

I'm considering a Compaq CQ10-500 N455 netbook, to run Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty).

I've scoured the web and these forums for any comments on compatibility, to no avail. If you can shed any light, I'd be most grateful.

Thanks,

Adrian

Ok. This search

gives you the specs. Intel Graphics are not well respected. Don't expect much there. Everything else may be in the Southbridge - lan, usb, hard disk, etc. They may identify as other chips. Take my own box: SiS 741/963 chipset. The 741 is the Northbridge. The 963 also identifies under lspci as SiS 961/2 (smb bus controller) 5513 (ide), 900 (network card) ?? (usb stuff), etc, etc.

If that stuff can all be driven, fine. If not, don't part with your money.

Thanks business_kid - will look into that.

Meanwhile if anyone has direct experience of this machine and Linux, I'd still like to hear from them. :-)
