It was up running for a good while. WiFi, firmware, Desktop setup.
During kernel compile, acpi warning popped out, (CPU too hot or whatever, but tablet itself was not that hot) then all of sudden, power off. Never (so far) back on again. (Not even BIOS screen)
Current situation is:
Charge indicator LED (next to power button) blinks several times, when power button is pressed. Main LED never lights up.
I tried several key combinations, volume down/up, F2, F12, Del and F9, but unsuccessful. Behavior of charge LED is same (blink several times) Long press of power button did not work either.
regretfully
+++ added on edit.
It looks like this is a known issue. Probably I need to update bios. But I need to get bios screen to update it.

I made a wrong link. This is supposed to replace the link above.

Reason: additional info
Asus has a CPU boost in bios, it doesn't work with Linux. Turn it off. Linux will boost it on it's own.
I think it's called turbo boost.
Look at my signature below.
Thank you. I checked, probably it is off.
Currently, I have following problems.
sd card reader unstable,
touchpad right button, (button 3) often (not always) recognized as button 2. (it does not look like hardware problem, tho I am not sure.)
Every once in a while, keystroke repeats itself. "llllliiiiinnnnnuuuuux" instead of linux. And symptom goes away within something like 10 secs. When this happens, quite often kernel error?? shows up, I do not know if this is related. The error looks like

Main storage space (where / lives) is /dev/mmcblk0p2, per mount. However, it is not detected by lshw.
My current knowledge is:
1. kernel options for libata is necessary to boot. (it completely chokes without libata)
2. udev rule for gpio exists for power switch, but nothing else.
3. Both lsusb and lspci are unable to detect memory.
4. /home is /dev/sdb1. lshw CAN detect.
Currently, I have following problems.
sd card reader unstable,
touchpad right button, (button 3) often (not always) recognized as button 2. (it does not look like hardware problem, tho I am not sure.)
I will update.
Is this an actual physical button or a "virtual" button? Either way, I'd check if you're using Synaptics or libinput. Libinput will eventually replace synaptics, but currently is...less than feature complete, and can cause this issue if it's being used. All my machines except 1 had issues with touchpads because of switching to libinput recently as the default (usually quite easy to switch back, definitely in Debian Stretch & Fedora it is).

I know I've heard of other machines having this issue and it ended up being a BIOS/Firmware issue. Check for firmware updates and apply if there are any. I know you were wondering how to apply earlier, does your laptop have the ability to flash firmware from the EFI system partition? Most of my machines have this option, makes it easy to flash with linux, as all you need to do is copy the update file and reboot.

After bios update, the kernel error went away. The chattering like symptom happens much less frequently.
One other symptom showed up, X-window got unstable. It segfaults every once in a while.
Audio works, but every once in a while it is noisy, very noisy. I am using kernel4.5.xand4.4.x.asound.state, as /var/lib/alsa/asound.state/
It is not easy to troubleshoot with this tablet. Together with X, problem is "unstable", not reproducible!! Every once in a while, things go wrong. Where am I supposed to check??
Network (wireless) and touchpad went wrong also. They were good at boot, after a good while, they died. After reboot, network came back, but touchpad did not. Another reboot, they both were good. I have not had time to review all logs yet.
touchpad right button, (button 3) often (not always) recognized as button 2.
The problem above is a user problem.
When right botton (near right side of touchpad) is clicked, while some other finger touching on the touchpad, it goes as button 2.
Without any other finger on the touchpad, it goes as button 3.
