Linux Flash Drive

I am trying to find a way to install a full distribution to my flash drive, I have already tried the livecd method and it worked but it's capabilites are too limited and it takes too long to manually update the packages. The only computer I have at home is a laptop with a 40GB hard drive and 1 1/2 GB of RAM running XP and I need that for my games. I don't have enough hard disk space to dual boot. I just bought an 8GB flash drive and it would be perfect for Linux, anyone know of any tutorials on installing Linux to a flash drive? My distribution of choice would more then likely be PCLinuxOS or Sabayon. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have been looking for the information but I haven't been able to find anything helpful. Also I am taking recommendations on what distribution to use.

I have been through the pendrive site countless times and all it ever talked about was installing livecd's to flash drives. Thank you for the link, I plan on putting the UBCD on my 1 GB and PCLinuxOS on my 8 GB flash drives and the tutorials seem and less time consuming then the livecd method. Again thank you for your help, I would like to try to make a career out of Linux and I needed a way of working with it at home.
