Linux distro for student laptop and cloning help
Hi,
Sorry, I know this has been asked many times.
I'm planning on setting up a few laptops for student usage. I've been looking around for laptops with config - 1.0 ghz, 256 mb, 10-20 Gb HDD, 15" TFT, 10/100 network. in the US$500 range.
I seen ads for the 'ECS A907 Transmeta, G320-C VIA C3, etc. Has anyone had experiences with Linux and these laptops. Which distribution would be most suited? (where all laptop functions work)
I plan on having a minimal linux config. All hardware supported and on the software side - Browser with required plugins, Evolution e-mail client and Open office.
Also, once I decide on the actual hardware and select a distro (with the invaluable help from you guys) and then perform the installation and customize. I would need to clone the setup on other identical laptops. (standardization is key here)
I've heard of College Linux, but never used it. My experience is limited to Mandrake and mainly as a desktop user.
Any help, pointers....
Thanks.
