I really don't know what you want from me, I posted a link to all the specs in the very first post already. The only thing missing there was the network device and that was linked in a later post by me. In case you can't find it:
Intel Corporation Wireless 8265 / 8275 (rev 78)

My current status: I came much further in my setup, without major problems so far. It seems like there are no compatibly issues between my laptop and Debian, but there is some outdated software in the official sources that's incompatible with the current Debian version and breaks the system when installed. I've avoided those programs so far and the system still runs perfectly.

Company doing linux adaptations Schenker laptops

AFAIK the linux versions of Schenker laptops are distributed /supported by https://www.tuxedocomputers.com/, and (if you search closely) they offer an adaptation to use linux.

So I could execute this on any Schenker laptops without problems? They explicitly warn of executing it on anything other than their "Tuxedo" laptops (great name BTW). For now I won't do it, because Debian is running fine, as long as I don't install certain things that messed it up when I created this thread. Seems like I hit all the pitfalls possible on my first try. It's currently running fine, I'm just not done with setting it up, because I was busy for basically end of Autumn until now. I would definitely prefer Ubuntu if it was possible, but for now I'll stay on Debian, unless something major prevents that.

Actually I am still In the stage before reinstalling (did not try the script yet). I just stumbled over tuxedo some time ago, as the schenker people forward to this company.

Which debian distro are you using currently ?
Could you tell me some major pitfalls ?

That would be very nice.

Thank you.

The page I downloaded Debian from actually isn't accessible anymore: https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/u...64/iso-hybrid/
But this one should be valid as well: https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/u...86-netinst.iso
I don't know if Cinnamon is included in that one already. I don't really have a reason to prefer Cinnamon over anything else. From the programs I'm using I should have probably installed KDE instead, it would have saved me some effort installing programs that KDE programs rely on.

Apparently the "wobbly windows" extension makes the screen lag every few seconds, even after it was uninstalled again!
There are some applets, for example one of the CPU indicators and a current traffic monitor, that cause problems when installed. Might also be persistent after uninstallation, I don't remember anymore.
DaVinci Resolve does not run. It's only a white window. KDEnlive freezes when clicking play. In general not very many good video editors seem to work, here my softwarerecsSE question about it: https://softwarerecs.stackexchange.c...eature-palette
Many programs have only very old versions in Synaptic, for example OBS.
If you want the beta version of the "Dolphin" Wii emulator, I can save you quite the quest: https://stackoverflow.com/questions/...-emulator-beta
I tested probably every single Google Drive synchronisation program for Linux, only InSync works, but InSync works really well and is easy to set up. But it costs money.
I have not found a good mouse+keyboard recording+replaying program yet, the best so far is manually typing in the movements, keys and clicks in xdotool. Here my softwarerecsSE question: https://softwarerecs.stackexchange.c...aying-on-linux
I have also not found a good music editing program yet, the ones I still have to test properly are Audacity, Ardour, LMMS, reaper.fm and this list: github.com/nodiscc/awesome-linuxaudio
I was so far unable to get Paint.net running, with Mono or Wine. I'm still looking for image editors, both GIMP and Krita have their issues.
A graphics card driver made Cinnamon unable to start, but I was able to just uninstall the driver again in line based mode.
I think those are the major points. The rest is just bad habits of developers, like not specifying how a program should be installed, which dependencies it needs, etc. Those often cause a lot of effort.

An update almost two years later: Debian did actually cause many of my problems. Now I use Manjaro, with Mate as my desktop environment (KDE also had issues). Installing that regularly did not work, but using "Manjaro architect" did (but was pretty complicated). But now I'm very happy with Manjaro. Many things on it are much easier to use and it supports my graphics cards out of the box, unlike Debian, which didn't support the faster one at all.
