Unhappy Lid closing/opening generates no event

Hi,

after an fresh install of Ubuntu Gutsy the lid swirch stopped generating events, verified via xev. /proc/acpi/buttins/lid/Cxxx/state is always closed or open (seems random choice on boot) and does not change on pressing the lid button. Im sure its not an hardware related issue, since windows respond to lid closing correctly. Everything worked fine in previous version of Ubuntu. Suspend from menu also works fine.

Where in my system could I possibly look for some diagnostics, or some relevant info? I would also appreciate link to any relevant literature or some explanation if the internals, so I could look for the problem (im not too advanced in linux).

Thanks in advance for any reply!

You need to run the command ' acpi_listen ' and see what events acpi sees.
Read through this post to see what i went through.
