Lenovo Y550 Wifi Problems

I am having trouble getting my Lenovo Y550 laptop to connect via Wifi.

I am using a completely up to date Ubuntu 9.10 64bit

The network manager detects the WiMax side of the card but doesn't detect the Wifi side. wlan0 isn't even an option in the network areas.

I've tried ndiswrapper also. I have tried multiple versions of windows drivers and the device always ends up UNCLAIMED

here is the output of lshw -C Network
*-network UNCLAIMED
description: Network controller
product: WiMAX/WiFi Link 5050 Series
vendor: Intel Corporation
physical id: 0
bus info: pci@0000:04:00.0
version: 00
width: 64 bits
clock: 33MHz
capabilities: bus_master cap_list
configuration: latency=0
resources: memory:f7100000-f7101fff

here is more output
Code:

the usbcore on the last line is because I downloaded the Windows7 beta driver to test to see if it worked
