I'm planning on pulling the trigger soon on a top-of-the-line Lenovo X1 Yoga.
I'd like to make Linux (either Arch or Mint) my primary O/S, although I will keep Win10 as a secondary boot for the s/w I need to run for work.
Any thoughts or comments on running Linux on the X1 Yoga? I'm expecting issues with the fingerprint reader and Wacom pen. Anything else you think would be a problem?
The Yoga is pretty expensive, esp. spec'd out. I'd like to know I can run Linux on it before spending the $$$.

Hello and welcome to the forum
Just as a suggestion, unless you need this model for specific reasons, it might be easier to go with a laptop that has Linux preinstalled. There are a few companies who sell these, such as ZaReason,System76 and EmperorLinux. If you live outside the United States, you might need to go with a company that sells or ships to your country.
I was also able to find a couple articles here and here concerning other people's experience with installing Linux on the Lenovo. However, yours might be different. You can also see my Google search here.
Regards...

Reason: Added greeting.

I'm familiar with those companies, but they all look like bricks to me ;-) And look like they weigh like bricks too. They'd also need to ship to Australia (I'm an American living in Oz.)
I like the light weight, keyboard, trackpoint, and touch screen of the Yoga. I didn't think I'd use touchscreen, but that may be just because I've never had it. I've heard once you have it you never want to go back. Here is one such article (although a little old): http://www.hanselman.com/blog/Review...NewLaptop.aspx
I don't like the soldered RAM - I run a lot of VMs and would prefer upgradability - but AFAIK you need that for the light weight.

Thanks. The 2nd link looks like you can get Linux (mostly) working with a lot of fiddling. It also looks like things improved with the passage of time (from the 1st to last comments). Hopefully I can get Arch and/or Mint working.

Hi...
You're welcome, if you purchase the Lenovo, let us know how it turns out.

It looks like they source the Lenovo X1 Yoga and pre-install Linux on it. So this would mean that Linux should be fully supportable on that hardware (according to their claims)
I say "looks like" because the site really stinks ;-). The pictures are tiny, the description brief. They call the Yoga a "tablet" instead of "2-in-1", which is Lenovo's terminology. But hopefully I've read the website properly, which means it should work. They would even install Linux on a machine I supply them (easier if I was in the US).

Hi...
Hopefully, that includes the fingerprint reader and the wacom pen.
