I just installed the new edition of Xubuntu on my IBM ThinkPad T43p. It works fine except that when I close the lid with the computer still running, I don't hear the short "beep" and the computer doesn't seem to go into sleep mode. When I reopen the lid later, the computer still doesn't "beep" and it feels warm, as if it has been running the whole time. Do you have any suggestions for how to get the system into sleep mode when closing the laptop's lid? Thank you in advance!
Hi Yuhan. Are you still having this problem? If not, you can mark it as solved from the thread tools menu.
Otherwise, you problem may have to do with acpi not initiating sleep mode, which was recently a problem for me. I'm assuming your laptop has dropped to sleep mode before but maybe not with Xubuntu. Can you enable sleep mode with a button or with `echo mem >/sys/power/state` on the command line as root?
