laptop stand fan issue

Dear friends,
I bought a belkin stand for my laptop. the problem is the fan on the stand always runs.
What I want it to do is start the fan when the temperature is above some threshold and stop otherwise. i got this link: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/ACPI_fan_control_script but not sure if it is good.
One more thing I am confuse about is my idea all over: that is if controlling the fan with temperature is good or let it run all the while.
what to do?

Unfortunately there is not ACPI for stand fans. It is made to run as long as the laptop is on because the power for the stand fan is USB-powered from the laptop itself.
There is absolutely no concern if you leave it running all the time the laptop is on, it helps keep the DIMMS cool and the CPU as well. Although ACPI controlled CPU fans will kick-in when the CPU is too busy that it heats off even while the stand fan is on.
So dont worry and just have a heat free laptop working day! Cheers!!!
