Laptop recommendation for CentOS, Toshiba Portege R835-P56X ???
I would appreciate if someone could recommend a good laptop under $1000 that does not run into major compatability issues with CentOS. I am currently looking at the Toshiba Portege R835-P56X. If anyone has any experience with the Protege running linux, please also chime in. Thanks for the help.

I can whole heartedly recommend the Lenovo W510. EVERYTHING works. I was issued this laptop by work (IBM) and I am running a build called Open Client which is based on CentOS 6. I have no idea what this thing costs, but it really is flawless. The built-in webcam works, the wireless works, the USB 2 and 3 ports work, the DVD burner works, the NVidia video controller works.
Good Luck. |

Down from my soap box! Currently using a $500 Acer laptop from Walmart running Fedora 13. Only problems so far: Lost dash key from keyboard |
Any hardware certified for Red Hat Linux should also work equally well for CentOS:

Thanks everyone for the info. I no longer like Toshiba.

I don't know much about Cent0S, but slackware64-current is running nicely on my r835 p70. You'll need a recently issued distro to get 1366x768 in xorg. (Naturlich, you could update to the latest intel drivers on your own) Ubuntu 11.04 works as is as does slackware-current. ,
