laptop query

i am contemplating on buying a laptop. i want to use it for development. i was wondering if it is a wise idea. the typical software that would be running FC6,eclipse with j2EE support,some java application server and a database.

what will the response time be like? and also what wud be the ideal configuration for a fast laptop.

dont know why you think it wouldnt be a wise idea?
a gig of ram and centrino duo core 1.8Ghz should be fast enough. although, I think it much depends on your budget.
