laptop power down ...11.04
 

Hi Chaps
I am running 11.04 on an old samsung laptop,
yesterday 26/07/11 system downloaded upgrade packages,on shut down after splash screen message, (services stopping) then displays ubuntu logo laptop does not power off just hangs and after a while logo goes and a greenish screen is then displayed, any ideas please

But it boots without any problem when you start it? And this fault appears every time when you try to shut it down? I don't have any ideas, but it was a bit unclear what you meant.

yes boot up no problems, just on shut down when all services have stopped the laptop fails to power off i have to press and hold power button to stop power, i just wondered if this was normal ,unlike in windows this happens automatically on close down,
I can live with this and not loose sleep but i was just curious if this was the norm in version 11.04. Having finally sorted wireless connection in this version of Linux i really like the operating system , unlike my last attempt at getting to grips with Linux (10.4) could never sort out the wireless connection and ended up frustrated
