laptop hotkeys

Hello, I have a dell 700m and I have been having problems trying to configure my hotkeys (ie volume, lcd/crt, wireleess card etc.) After looking around I found this posted on another site (sorry that you have to copy and paste I don't have enough posts yet to do a link) ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=6204

So I tried what "muzzy" suggsted on that forum and I am succesful in finding the keycode in xev, however when going into /usr/share/ there is no directory for "hotkey(s)." When just typing hotkey into the terminal it says
"hotkey: this computer is not supported or the kernel module is not installed."
So I was just wondernig if anyone else had any suggestions of what to do. btw I think i forgot to mention I am running Suse 9.2

try the run command "klineakconfig" if you're using kde.it allows you to set special keys for multi-media keyboards.
if it dosen't run, you'll need to install it.
