laptop, double boot, and sound cards

Hello,

I would like to get a laptop and install linux with double boot.
What are the models to avoid ??
Furthermore, I would like a good sound card and I have read that I had to take care since most laptop don't have good integrated sound Cards ? Do I have also to avoid some models, or do I need to get an external sound card ?

Can you tell me about this ?

I know my question is rather general, it is a bit because I don't have yet the hardware and don't know much which softs I will use. If no response can be made without a dozen pages of explanations, can anybody redirect me to sites dedicated to this subject ?

Thanks, Xround.

done that, no problem. works like on a desktop pc

check out the HCL of Redhat, SuSE, etc.
get a knoppix cd and try out if possible
avoid exotic hardware or models where you can't get the specs for the HW

what is a "good" sound card? i'm happy if my laptop produces system
sounds ("bing bing";-) and plays sound files.
