Angry laptop configure mouse and touchpad

hello, i have mandrake 9.1 on my fujitsu siemens laptop.

The problem is that i can only control the pointer through my touchpad. My usb mouse does not work, even though i have run the configuiration tool for it.

I had installed linux on this machine before and then the mouse worked but the laptop touchpad did not!! (i had to reinstall because i messed up the system by accident!).

i want Both devices to work. Under windows both the mouse & touchpad can be used. Can you help with this problem please?

Thanks

update

Hi - now i have got the usb mouse to work but......the touchpad does not.!!

Can someone please give me info about which modules / files i need to look at so i can get both devices to work? Im no 'kernel hacker' so simple instructions would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
Neil

I got my touchpad and USB mouse to work together today... had to download and install the synaptics driver for the touchpad, and then it was just editing the XFree86config file to use both mice
