Kali GUI refuses to boot on an 920m laptop

After installing Kali linux on my laptop the system refuses to boot the gui.
It just shows a sold white underscore (_) in the top left corner.
I can get into tty and try to boot mdk3 from there but nothing happens.
If left alone after a while the screen goes completely black.
I have had the system on this laptop before without any problems.
I am using the latest release of kali 2019.2
I am using a "Legacy" boot option tho I am also capable of using UEFI but with UEFI the laptop shows no OS installed.

Any help would be appreciated. I have been dealing with this issue for a few days now!
Thanks!

Have you read this: https://www.linuxquestions.org/quest...ad-4175614092/

ALso, have you read this: https://www.linuxquestions.org/linux...Ask_a_Question

You have provided almost no technical information that might bear on the hardware problem, such as the make/model of the computer and of the graphics chipset.

Have you tried booting to a Live CD of something, mounting the / partition, and looking at the log files?

My bad. I should have provided more detailed hardware info. I will do my best to provide as much as possible in this reply.

Model of the laptop I am using:
Acer Aspire E5-532G-P8TK

CPU: Intel Pentium Quad-Core N3700
GPU: nVidia GeForce GT 920M
RAM: 8GB (can't find manufacturer)

I had trouble booting into Kali Linux Live. It good stuck on boot (same as before) however I was able to boot into the most reason version of Tails
Here is a pastebin link to the log file I got.
