k-7 powernow(cpufreqd) on a laptop w/o PST tables
 

all right, here my situation.

I compiled a new kernel ("the debian way" yes I'm running debian). I can't boot into my computer with ACPI on. But my CPU has not PST tables, so it has to fall back on ACPI. The dilemna obviously being I can't boot in with ACPI, but I need ACPI. Any ideas? yes I've been to www.codemonkey.org.uk and the only thing it says is that it doesn't work on somelaptops so you have to fall back on ACPI. is there an APM version? is there a way to get ACPI working on my computer?

Come on people, someone must know. This laptop isn't obscure or anything. Please help, this will allow me to use linux for much more than a toy, because right now windows works with powernow and linux doesn't. I use this laptop for school and the only way I can use it the entire day is with low power setting. Help!
