[SOLVED] Jumper EZBook 3 PRO - can't boot from USB most of common Linux distros

Hi, I tried to do it like that, but when I typed

isorespin.sh -i ~/<elementaryos-0.4.1-stable.20170814.iso> -b rEFInd

I got : isorespin.sh command not found
I did that in Oracle virtual box
I am complete newbie so far, so dunno what am I doing wrong
Can someone pls help me? Thx

also tried different instructions from linuxium:
3. Download 'isorespin.sh' script from 'https://goo.gl/ZnUd6H'.
4. Make the script executable ('chmod 755 isorespin.sh'
5. Install any required dependencies (typically 'sudo apt-get install -y squashfs-tools xorriso curl zenity' should surfice).
6. Respin your ISO ('./isorespin.sh -i ubuntu-16.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso -u --atom').
7. Plug in a USB and note which device it is (say '/dev/sdX').
8. Unmount and mounted file systems from the USB ('sudo umount /dev/sdX*').
9. Write your respun ISO to the USB ('sudo dd if=linuxium-v4.13-rc6-ubuntu-16.04.3-desktop-amd64.iso of=/dev/sdX bs=4M').
10. Boot your Intel Atom 2 in 1 PC from the USB.

Manjaro did not work. Black screen w/cursor. Antergos 17.09 Live-USB booted OK and everything was working. I have not yet tried to install it to my SSD.

I was able to make bootable live USB iso of Lubuntu 17.04.

When setting up isorespin, most important is use of rEFInd boot manager, I also made isorespin include packages: git, build-essential and use kernel 4.10.13 and permanent storage of 2GB. I thought I will be able to use already compiled driver for wifi 8723bu.ko from previous attempts with Antergos, but it didn't work out.

So I installed Lubuntu, but the installation ends prematurely when it tries to install grub. No panic, I don't want it anyway.

So I headed to rEFInd homepage http://www.rodsbooks.com/refind/ and followed the guide to install rEFInd manually in Windows and with help of program EasyUEFI.

And VOILA I have Lubuntu running and booting via rEFInd. Last step was compiling the driver for wifi again:

For me it is good end of the story.

If anybody follows this, and needs more thorough explanation of steps I have done, feel free to ask, I 'll gladly share.

But note: I am Linux newbie myself, I have no idea why grub isn't booting on this particular machine and have also no idea how to debug it. And I don't know how to make custom ISO's
from distros that isorespin doesn't support.

TL/DR: Problem solved, THANK YOU for all the help. Blame GRUB! rEFInd & isorespin FTW !

Yes! This worked for me in combination with Antergos 17.11 (no respinning of the ISO is needed)...

I have the v4 version of Ezbook 3 Pro. I burned the latest version of Antergos 17.11 ISO to USB using Etcher. The Live-USB booted fine and everything was working when it booted up - it defaults to Gnome desktop. Then I installed it (Gnome) to my SSD drive but when installation finished and I rebooted it gave that infamous black/blank screen with blinking cursor. Installing rEFInd boot manager from within Windows as described above fixed it. After rebooting both Windows and Antergos shows up in the rEFInd menu, and everything seems to be working, except...

.. the only thing I have to figure out is why the touchpad does not work. It was working initially on Windows until I tried booting Linux, then it stopped working on both Linux and Windows and nothing I do restores it. Even resetting BIOS settings to defaults does not. Any ideas?

Anyone know of driver issues with the Intel 3165 NIC or performance problems on Linux?
The only downside I see so far with this Antergos Gnome installation is the Intel 3165 dual-band ac-wifi is not working well. In one position/distance from my router I get good signal/connection when booted into Windows but no connection at all when booted into Antergos in the same exact position. This seems like a driver issue.
Anyone using Arch/Manjaro/Antergos (or Debian/Ubuntu, or other distro) see this with their v4 EZB3P?

Btw, I have a fairly recent version of Manjaro Xfce (w/kernel 4.13) installed on a USB pen drive. It works as a normal HD with data persistance. It boots fine on my EZB3Pro v4 (through Refind). But the touchpad does not work and the poor Wifi performance is the same or worse than with Antergos.
I cannot remember if I installed on this USB drive using the standard Manjaro ISO burned onto another USB or if I used the Manjaro Architect (net) installer. Of course a separate PC is needed for this installation method.
[edit] There is a bug already submitted to Ubuntu on the touchpad problem (and a potential kernel patch on top of kernel 4.14 you can test): https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...x/+bug/1728244

[edit:] So it turns out the touchpad also fails on Antergos. The problem is intermittent on various notebooks and many different distro's and kernel versions.

Here I posted a step-by-step installation instructions using the Manjaro Architect network-installer (uses your wifi connection) to install the very latest stable version. You can select which desktop and kernel version you want to install. If you want use Kernel 4.14 (as of today) you'll have to install via the pre-release ISO from my previous post above.

I received my ezbook 3 pro (version 4? with SSD door) a few days ago. (ordered it 50 days ago).
Tried manjaro xfce and manjaro mate, didnt boot. Neither with help of a separate usb refind image.
Success in booting with antergos and isorespined ubuntus, but TOUCHPAD doesnt work.
Tried (with isorespin) ubuntu mate 16.04 and 17.10 with default kernels and latest kernels but still no touchpad.
Patched the kernel with this ,but still nothing.
What to do with the touchpad?

Well if you want help you're gonna have to provide more information on what you did to install what exact ISO versions you used, what version of rEFInd and what method you used to install both the ISO and rEFInd (there are many), dmesg log files, etc.
I just used Linuxium's latest script to respin LinuxMint Mate 18.3 BETA (linuxmint-18.3-mate-64bit-beta.iso) and it booted and installed fine (press and hold the F7 key at the Jumper logo splash then select the USB boot partition).
The touchpad problem I think is timing related and so it happens more or less for each notebook. It is probably going to take a while to track down the cause and potentially find a kernel patch that will work around it. On my EZB3Pv4 I see the problem only about 5% of the time but when I do it's often difficult to get working again... I have to often power down and reset BIOS defaults several times to get it to work.

For Manjaro you're going to have to install rEFInd from within Windows or alternately burn the rEFInd img file to USB and boot from that. If not, you cannot attempt to boot the Manjaro Live-USB. And even then you have to boot it with the proper command line as I outlined here on the Manjaro forum and here on the TechTablets forum. (note; the command line to startup the Manjaro ISO is different for each ISO release... the "misolabel" parameter)

Tried linuxmint-18.3-mate-64bit-beta.iso with latest linuxium isorespin.sh (v8.01): it booted but no touchpad ,no wifi, no terminal emulator...
Tried manjaro-xfce-17.0.6-stable-x86_64.iso. It booted with these instructions. But no touchpad. Here is dmesg output.

Open the notebook and disconnect then reconnect the battery from the circuit board. Check the ribbon cable connecting the touchpad is connected properly. When you restart it reset the default setting in the BIOS. Then test with Manjaro again. Anything changed?
It's strange you have inconsistency between the Manjaro (with wifi) and Mint-Mate (no wifi) because for sure Mint 18.3 has a working driver.

do i have to do this even if the touchpad works on windows?

Your dmesg output does not have the same string as mine.
Yours is missing the BIOS version/date line as my Manjaro 17.1-pre2 dmesg has... and this is very strange as I never saw this with anyone else's EZB3P. Maybe they installed the wrong BIOS/firmware on your notebook? It's odd.
