Ivy Bridge based Laptop experience

The Intel ivy bridge laptops are coming out. Phoronix articles have said that the linux support should be good. I'm in the market for a laptop and am wondering if the ivy bridge is the way to go.
I'm looking at a HP in particular. I wanted a SSD but this one has a HD and I can't substitute. It also has a Nvidia GeForce GT 650M. I'm not a gamer so don't care that much about 3D, but wouldn't mind having the Nvidia if it doesn't drain the battery. Other than that, the specs look good on this one.

Does GT650M mean the laptop uses optimus? It has rather shaky linux support. Perhaps you can simply switch it off in bios, but I have no experience myself.

If you are not a gamer, I would recommend a simple intel graphics. This is mostly well supported.
