Is there a Linux on a floppy disk distribution?

Hi! I have a Fujitsu stylistic 2300. The hard drive cable is bad so I am in search of a new one...in the meantime, I am planning to go travelling next week and want to take my beloved tablet with me to watch VCD's. Does anyone know if there is a Linux distrib. that will reside on a floppy disk? I also want to be able to watch VCD's and listen to the sound as well..all run off of a floppy drive. I would appreciate any help you can provicde...very, very soon!

Why don't you tranfer the VCD on your hard-drive and put a live-cd of linux ?

Hi! Thanks for your fast response...the problem I am having is that the cable for my hard drive has a short so the hard drive is not working. I am trying to find a temporary solution - 1-2 months - that will let me use the computer as a vcd player with only a floppy drive and a CD player. The computer does not boot to the cd player - the BIOS is too old so I have to use some kind of boot disk in the floppy to get the show started. How much room does Linux need on a CD? Or...can I boot the system from a floppy, use the cd player to load Linux into memory, take the Linux CD our and pop in my movie CD? I know this is a bit difficult to describe...but if you keep in mind I have a computer with no hard drive, only a floppy and a CD player I think it will be easier to conceptualize.

Well, if you just want to use the computer as a vcd player, take a look at LinVDR http://linvdr.org/ ( german language )
Itīs a life-distro designed for watching VCDs ( i think so... )
I never tryed it myself, but as far as i know, you can boot up your computer with LinVDR-cd and then remove the cd for watching a vcd or svcd....
Donīt know if this can solve the problem, but i think itīs worth a try.

UUUUPS.....
Sorry Iīm wrong !
As I read on their website, LinVDR is not a life-distro.
You must install it to use it ( 50 MB space required ), so this will not solve your problem.
Sorry.

GeeXboX

GeeXboX is a live-cd distro that load into main memory and doesn't need to have its cd in after its loaded.
