is there a battery optimizer?


my windows side( im trying to aleviate the need for it) on my hp pavilion there is a batt optimizer that charges discharges the batt a couple of times or something like that to rid it of memory or something.
i gave a quick look but didnt sere anything like that for linux. any body know of one? or even if it really makes a diff?

I've read that you're supposed to do such a thing with new batteries out of the wrapper, ie: fully charge/discharge several times. But I've not seen anything about doing that after the battery has been in service for a while. I've not seen anything for linux except apmiser, which is something to conserve battery power while it's in use.
