Is the Sony Ericsson K700i Linuxable?

I thinking about getting a new mobile phone,
the Sony Ericsson K700i has some good write ups and is free with most contracts but... it seems to be pretty much locked into into Windows - Outlook. Which is a problem as I'm exclusively running Linux

Does anyone have any experience getting it to work or working on a fix?

The odd thing is they mention using GNU-Linux to develop Symbian applications for it on their website but nothing about compatibility for general use.

Also can someone recommend a compatible Blue-tooth interface for my PC?

Many thanks.

Although I have a laptop with Bluetooth and my girlfriend has a K700i I haven't gotten around to actually trying them together yet - good thing you reminded me. It seems it is possible according to this post but it doesn't give much information. Also, if you bring out the ol' Babelfish on this thread you might learn a thing or two. I know I will read it but I don't have the time right now.

Although Ericsson is generally pro-Linux this mainly shows in radio base station systems and datacenters (they're big on clustering). I suppose they still don't promote it for desktop use (they didn't during my time there).

Hmmm, that post you mention is about synchronising with Evolution (on Gnome) what I really want to do is sync with KMail. I found something called kitchenSync which is built into the latest version of kdepim which is part of KDE 3.3. I now have to find a way of installing it without pulling my entiresystem apart!
