IRDA service will start, but need help with general configuration
 

I am trying to get the IRDA port on my Dell C840 running. I have been through all the related posts, without much success.

Here are the details:

I know the device is an SMC fast, but the recommendation from everyone was to start with base SIR, which is what I am doing;

The device is on com 3, according to BIOS.

My modules.conf file contains the line:

alias tty-ldisc-11 irtty

My /etc/sysconfig/irda file contains:

IRDA=yes
DEVICE=/dev/ttyS2
#DONGLE=actisys+
DISCOVERY=yes

IRDA service starts, but fails to stop. irattach does not run.

What am I missing?


Any direction you could provide would be greatly appreciated.
