ipw3945 working

dont know if this works for everybody, but may be of some help.

i have spent 2 months trying slackware 12, fc6, fedora 7 and (k)ubuntu to get my card working to no avail, kubuntu being the exception, have been following instructions to the letter etcform here.
http://www.fedoraforum.org/forum/sho...d.php?t=157205

on the odd occasion i have had the network card light stay on, but havent managed to get an ip address.
after spending 3 hours last night in fedora 7 with it supposedly working i was ready to tear my hair out.
anyway this morning i was looking at my configuration
# system-config-network --> edit and i changed the nickname from eth1 to wlan0, and put 0x in front of my wep key [i'm using a bt home hub by the way],# system network restart and off it went.

i am very pleased that it is working and i have found no reference pointing this out so i just thought it may help others [ i may have been very lucky]

regards mark

I have no problem getting it to work under WEP. The problem is with WPA. I'm still trying.
