iPaq and Linux

How hard is it for linux to communicate (sorry I don't know the proper term)
with an iPaq? I was considering a Zaurus but I can't find any in good condition under $150.

Also how hard is it (if it's possible) to install linux onto an iPaq?

connecting an ipaq with linux is doable, but a bit of a pain. check out to start. this will get you connected, and allow you to share files, etc. intall becoming much easier as the project has moved along. there are programs to install files, which i haven't mucked around with. the multisync program/plugin will allow you to sync with evolution; had it working on my previous setup, but haven't figured it out with latest mandriva (nee' mandrake) release.

installing linux on ipaq is very easy.

i have done it many times. but i keep coming back for pocket pc in the summertime, since i use my ipaq as gps screen when i fly and cumulus is not as nice as navgps/winpilot (and tomtom for car navigation).

give it a try. and remember to back up your pocket pc image so that you can restore it if you want.
