LinuxQuestions.org - Intel Wireless Pro 2200bg on Acer TravelMate 290 with Mandriva Linux, slight problem!

Ok first of all here are full specs of my laptop please pay full attention to this long description:

Acer TravelMate 290 with Intel Centrino Processor
1.5GHz 512 MB RAM (Quite useless info)
Two hard drives, C: and D: drive, C has Windows XP Professional and D: which no longer is recognized by windows is now Linux as I found my D: drive on windows quite useless.

Mandriva Linux 2006 Operating System

Intel PRO/Wireless 2200BG (802.11b/g WLAN)

I managed to almost get my wireless card working. I found lots of trouble with installing all those ipw2200 and ieee80211 and the wireless tools (read later for wireless tools problem) files but I managed.

Now I open Mandriva Control Center, then I go to networks and then I go to setup new connection (Sorry the names are not accurate).
I select Wireless LAN connection and my computer recognizes my wireless card as "eth2" because I have installed the packages correctly. It goes through all the setup thing correctly until I reach the end just after "Do you want to allow users to start this connection?", and then I click next and nothing happens. It doesnt exactly get stuck but the wireless setup thing just stops there and doesnt progress further even after 10 mins it just stays there so I have to kill it in the end.

Now, I have strong confidence to believe that I havent installed the wireless tools files correctly because I think when you click next after the users part of the wireless setup, it does some wireless commands which I think I did not place correctly. I did do the make command on the wireless tools files and it compiled everything but it did not place them in a special place. Ive heard lots of people typing in "iwconfig" in a terminal window but I cant do that because the wireless tools package doesnt seem to be in the right place.

Where do I put the wireless tools commands???
