From the driver page:
"In order to use the IPW2200 driver you will need the following:

1. Linux (of course) with a 2.6.4+ kernel [link]. See the INSTALL document for information on specific options required to be enabled in the kernel."

Because you have no driver loaded.

You have two options for this chipset - one released by the manufacturer and one open source.
Get the 3Com driver here: http://www.3com.com/products/en_US/r...fdt&order=desc
Or, assuming it's already compiled as a module in your kernel, modprobe sk98lin will load the OSS driver.

Use the Slack network tool to configure it from there.

thanks i will try,
the other question why when i update kernel 2.6
i always got VFS error, i have been follow the step from linux question but i still got that error message
please give me your advise...

That error typically comes from the file system driver for Reiser not being loaded. You can compile support into the kernel, or leave it as a module and use mkinitrd to handle things during boot.

i was tried that method but i always got error with VFS...
btw do you know driver for eepro1000 wifi card on board on toshiba notebook with kernel 2.4
thanks bro

I suspect you either missed a step or maybe didn't update LILO afterward. There's a very clear and short list of steps to take in the Slack testing kernel README: ftp://carroll.cac.psu.edu/pub/linux/.../README.initrd

As for the eepro1000, I think the driver you want is here:
