Intel i830M KMS problem

Hi,
I am wondering after 48 hours if I am the only one with problems with the i830M KMS.
Kernel 2.6.33-gentoo-r1, intel 2.11, xorg 1.8.0.
KMS and kernel config is as it is supposed to be, no fb drivers, only fb console enabled. After 2 secs booting I get a blank screen.
Via ssh I can log in, so the system is not crashing.

I connected a an external monitor and it worked. Still xrandr says "can't open display"

With i915.modeset=0 I get to the console on my laptop LCD, so I guess the LCD does not get detected.
The laptop is an IBM x30.

Anyone there or am I all alone? Any solutions?

Here is the syslog
