Intel Graphic trouble - black screen but on lid open/slose working OK...?
Hallo,
I did installed Arch Linux with XFce4 on my HP Pavilion DM4 1150ea 64Bit laptop and I am experiencing problems with my integrated Intel HD graphics card.
The basic problem is that I have black screen and cannot see anything, but when I close and re-open notebook lid, everything seems to work fine, X starts OK, slim and xFce starts Ok...
I went on every forum that I can find, but I was unable to find solution and I am a bit frustrated now.

I have KMS enabled, mkinitcpio.conf - MODULES="i915'
I have no idea what to do.
Please help, this is my last step blocking my from switching completly to O/S software/Linux.
Thanks,
Have a look in XFCE Menu / Settings / Sessions & startup / Application Autostart. XFCE has some power manager thingy there that thinks it's the boss. Stop it, and see if that helps.
I am having the same troubles under slackware 14 ive tried every option. I may try rebuilding the kernel and see if I can find something in there. I suspect something is going on with the i915 driver.
I would chase up on that intel driver and see the development status. AFAIK, in the words of one of the political slogans from here: "A lot done, more to do."
I am sure the Intel driver has come a long way, Mesa has changed, etc. Better to start your own thread with FULL DETAILS of GPU, distro, versions, KMS, and whose kernel you're using. Also post the output of

Hey there,
I recently bought an HP Pavilion 17-f201na (Intel i5 with Intel HD Graphics 5500) and installed Slackware 14.1 on it. X wouldn't start, saying "No screens found". I looked for the Xorg log in /var/log and played around with X -configure. I found out that the xf86-video-intel shipped with 14.1 was a little old (Nov 2013) and that it does not support the 5th Generation Intel HD graphics. So I built the latest xf86 driver from scratch (dep: libdrm) and also added libva and libva-intel. Now everything is fine.
I would also recommend MatejLach to check if his version of xf86-video-intel supports upto the latest generations of Intel graphics.
