I have bought a Acer Travelmate 3004TWi... it came with Windows and partitioning it was no problem during the installation of Mandriva 2006.
The problem was when it showed the summary page. there it indicated that it hadn't recognized the graphics card.
I chose the intel flatscreen 915, and then continued. It rebooted, and upon the initionan of Linux, it went blank. I then tried to update the installation choosing some other driver routines... like 810 and so.... but with the same result.
I have read a little, and tried to interrupt the linux initiation and force it into a text prompt, but that doensn't work... so How do I get the correct dirverroutine into the system? (I should have kernel 2.16.... )

Is the best way to go via the Windows partiion or a CD or how?

Just to get it going, I would choose the "vesa" driver during the install. While it is certainly not optimized for the best resolution of your monitor, it should at least allow you to boot up into X at say, 1024x768. Once there, you can do your research until you solve the actual problem.
