Intel 3945 Wireless NIC Issues

I appologize in advance for another one of these threads. I can't seem to get my wireless card working ( or even recognized. ) on my Dell Latitude D620. I'm running SuSE 10.2 and have added the ipw3945d and ipw-firmware packages through the YaST2 Software Manager, but for some reason...I get nothing.

Under Network Devices->Network Card all that I have listed is my wired NIC. Do I need to add the wireless card manually? I figured that if I installed the Daemon and firmware, that's all I'd really need to do. Am I missing some type of drivers? The answer is probably "yes", but I'm pretty new to Linux so I'm not exactly sure about these things...

Thanks for the help

Does SUSE include the kernel module? or do you have to build it yourself? If they don't provide it (which I doubt) then you will have to build it. I bet they provide it though, and you should be able to run ipw3945d from the command line.

Or, you could possibly reboot and have SUSE autoload it, but I don't use SUSE and couldn't tell you.

But make sure you have the kernel module and have it loaded. Without that your card will not get recognized.
