Installing Suse 9.1 pro on Toshiba Satellite P10-304
Hi everyone,
Been a while since i last posted here!
Okay, so i want to install Suse Linux 9.1 on my Tosh Laptop and i want to know if am gonna have any serious problems with Suse before i start the installation.
Laptop Specification:
Intel P4 2.60ghz
256 MB DDR Ram
DVD/CD-RW combo
NVIDIA Geforce FX Go5100 32mb DDR Video RAM
3 USB ports
1 Firewire
internal Network card
SpeedTouch 330 adsl usb modem
I will be dual booting with XP home edition.
So, are there any issues i should be aware of with my above specification?
Thank you for your help,

Yes I suspect that's right. I doubt that you'll have much trouble with anything else though.
Can you use ethernet with that modem instead of USB? Most I've seen have both. That wouldn't be any problem.
Also you are going to want to check the internal ethernt. Some are a pain.

Right, well i was able to test the adsl modem on a mates system which had Suse Linux 9.0 and as suspected, linux failed to detect. Ah well. Am not going to bother looking for drivers and what not... i still remember the problems i had with the conexant internal 56k modem!

Display specs
I bought one of these from Morgan and have just installed Suse 9.1 on it. The main problem I have had is that I cannot find the specs for the LCD display anywhere in the Toshiba users guide or any where else. I have tried googling for it and failed. Anyone help me on this? Apart from that it seems to work OK.

After installing the same distro on my laptop, i too require the display specifications to configure Suse. If you have located the information could you please provide me with it too? If you are still looking then i suggest you email toshiba Technical help: contact@toshiba-tiu.co.uk. I have already emailed them and await a reply.

Got a response - an email containing a UK 0870 number, their Customer Support line, and the promise that I would be able to get the info there. My mild scepticism has prevented me making that call just yet. Besides I have other fish to fry. Am working on a total upgrade of my desktop system to AMD-64.
If I do call the support line and get anything I will post it here.
