Installing red hat 9 on compaq presario
I want to install Red Hat 9 on a compaq presario laptop. When I start the installation, it hangs. What to do about it. Is any other distro recommended for laptops?

Firewire and Compaq
I don't know about Red Hat but there is an issue around the firewire and legacy USB support options in the BIOS that can cause a hang. I had problems installing SUSE 9.1 on my Compaq Presario 2500 and disabling legacy USB support appeared to help... however I'm very new at this so I suggest you do your own research! Basically it's possible to get past this issue one way or another.
PS SUSE 9.1 works ok on a Presario 2500 with the exception of the IR port, which I haven't been able to get working yet. However I can't see why Red Hat shouldn't work for you either???
Regards, James
