installing MPD in ipodlinux?

Let me start by saying I'm not sure what was the right forum, but this one seemed to fit.
I installed ipodlinux on my 5G 30GB iPod from windows using the new Installer2. It didn't,for whatever reason install MPD, the modules that's needed to play music. Does anyone know how to do that from linux?

Uh... follow the instructions for installing modules: download the tarbell, unzip it, copy the folder to /mnt/ipod/usr/lib; unmount, eject, unplug, reboot, and enjoy horrible sound quality. The iPod wasn't built to handle music and all the other bells and whistles at the same time, so you get skipping.

i've played w/ ipodlinux a little. and felt that it was too complicated. so i just uninstalled it. but the basic installer is easy to install.

It's cool for a while but just eats up disk space and isn't a suitible replacement for the iPod firmware. Once my music collection exceeded the space of my iPod I removed it, so just install it, amaze your friends, and then never use it again.

is it really that bad? I installed MPD via the Installer2, w/ the upgrade option. It seems to have installed, but it hung on loading, I'll play with it some more.

Well, I had a 2Gb nano, so if you can afford the disk space it doesn't do any harm, but I'd recommend Rockbox if you were trying to replace the firmware, but you still can't use the protected AAC files. Stupid Apple...
Go to the MPD page and try to follow the instructions for manual install.

mpd

My question is similar.
I am playing with iPod Linux because I'm on summer vacation and am bored. I followed the directions above and copied the mpd files to the required location. I then rebooted the iPod and when I go to the music menu in podzilla it is blank and the iPod freezes making me reboot. Does anybody know what could be wrong? I have been trying to solve this problem all day.
Thanks a lot.
