Installing Debian on a Compaq Amarda M700

Hi, everybody.

I'm trying to install Debian on a Compaq Armada M700 from floppy diskettes. Of course, since stable is the only Debian "distro" that offers installation from floppy disks, I have to use it.

It has the rtl8139 driver, but it won't install - here's the error message I get:

/lib/modules/2.2.20/net/rtl8139.o: init_module: Device or resource busy
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters
/lib/modules/2.2.20/net/rtl8139.o: insmod /lib/modules/2.2.20/net/rtl8139.o failed
/lib/modules/2.2.20/net/rtl8139.o: insmod rtl8139 failed

Note: I also tried it with the 8139too driver, no luck.

Thanks for any help!

Try going to one of these pages and getting the Sarge boot disks you will have better luck than with those old ones. The first is the official RC1 installer the second is the daily build of the rc1 + changes made.

Thanks for the help, but I managed to figure it out. The module he needed was eepro100.

Anyway, problem resolved, got it all installed.
