Hello, I have recently got an old laptop with spec:
AMD K2 300Mhx
640Mb (Been upgraded)
20Gb Hd (Been upgraded)
So it isn't terrable, runs XP no problems.
I'm really wanting to install Linux. I have Mandrake 9.1 which is installed on my PC and runs fine. When attempted to boot from cd, the menu comes up fine. Press enter to contine f1 for more option. If i press enter the progree bar gets about half way, then stops, left it for hours (on account of slow lappy) and nothing happened. Went into the advanced options and tried the text install and it does no better.
I think it's something to so with XP because I attempted to install linux when the HD was blank and it started fine, I changed my mind part way through installation, and quit it. Have I made a mess somehow?

perhaps the simpest thing then, since you already recently had an empty hard drive would be to wipe the hard drive and try again.
