install ubuntu on laptop zd 8000

hi, could anyone tell me how to go round installation of ubuntu 5.10 on my notebook zd8401ea (el051ea). the laptop normally boot from cd and ask me to choose either server installation or the default installation. i pressed enter for the default installation and list of infos scrolled on the screen for about 30 to 60 second after that the screen didn't show anything and all stopped there. thanks a lot for giving the tips.

Read this for FC4 install notes on your lappy. Note the discussion of cd/dvd rom and hal problems. Ubuntu has laptop forum and step by step installer guide which you should study before "jumping in". Enjoy your lappy
